Spring Mini Sessions! | Vancouver Island Family Photographer

It's Family Day and with it, a blissful 4-day-break from school, work and the February blues.

It's really has been a great long weekend so far. The sun is shining and I have seen so many people out and about. It is wonderful to once again chat with the neighbours and watch the kiddos zoom around on their bicycles! It seems that we humans have finally emerged from from our long winter hibernation. Yay!

And you know what that means? It's time to start thinking about family photos. I know I am. My tripod is out and I am dreaming of the perfect location to drag my family to. ;-)

Last night I was sifting through past sessions in search of the perfect session to feature today and I remembered this portfolio session that my friend Marget and her girls graciously helped me out with.

To this day this session is my very favourite. The company was amazing of course, but this is the only session I have ever shot exclusively with film. I didn’t even bring my digital gear!! I will admit, my camera bag was super light and I was totally terrified that the images wouldn't turn out.

When the film scans arrived at my inbox, however, I was so totally thrilled with the final product. Every time I look back on these photos I am reminded of how very much I want to shoot more film.

So, in honour of Family day, I am going to offer mini sessions done entirely in old school film! The images will be light, airy, packed with character and perfectly imperfect.

The sessions will be 30 minutes max, down at the Beach in Mill Bay or Neck Point in Nanaimo and will take place on the date of your choice between March 1st and May 15th.

The price will be $225.

If you are interested, definitely get in touch so that we can put something on the calendar! In the meantime, however, enjoy the gorgeous long weekend with your loved ones!

Stefanie & Elias | Beautiful Beach Club Wedding in Parksville BC

Honestly, is there anything more beautiful than a beach wedding? The big blue ocean, soft sand and blue skies for days... I just love everything about the beach and it was so exciting to be able to photograph Stef & Elias's wedding at the Beach Club in Parksville last summer!

It was a gorgeous wedding, and not simply because the the fabulous Westcoast beach. Stef & Elias are two of the most genuine, kind people I know and were a joy to work with. I couldn't be more happy that they found each other and I am over the moon that I got to share in such a precious period in their lives.

The wedding itself was intimate, with approximately 40 of the couples closest friends in attendance. The Beach Club Resort did a fabulous job with decor and catering and Nightsong Farm in Duncan created the most stunning bouquets and floral arrangements. The weather totally cooperated for the ceremony and bridal portraits which was a gift as I was able to shoot loads of film for the couple.

And now all I have to do is wait patiently for Baby Woewoda to come along! ;-)

In the meantime, however, I can't wait to see what Stef & Elias get up to and I wish them all the happiness in the world!

Kourtney & Nick | Olympic View Dream Wedding, Victoria BC

Kourtney & Nick were married in July at Olympic View Gold Course in Victoria BC surrounded bu their closest friends and family.

The day was gorgeous and the wedding ceremony site was ideal with the sun perched happily  behind the beautiful couple. Green trees swayed gently in the summer breeze and Miss Maple Florist Design created wedding bouquets that provided the perfect pop of colour. The bride and groom were relaxed and so content as they said "I Do" and it was so very obvious how overjoyed all of their guests were to be a part of Kourtney and Nick's special day.

The grounds were absolutely perfect for wedding photos with forests, fields and even waterfalls to take advantage of. It really is a venue tailor made for romance. We did loads of bridal portraits on the grounds and then it was in to the ballroom for dinner and the most amazing party hosted by the ever amazing Hey! Mr. Dj.

I wish Kourntey and Nick much love and happiness in the years to come and I am so incredibly excited to see what adventures are in store for them!
